Park President, SeaWorld San Diego and Aquatica San Diego
As president of SeaWorld San Diego, John Reilly leads a team of more than 4,000 employees, oversees a mammal, bird, fish and reptile population of nearly 10,000 and is responsible for making sure the millions of guests who visit the park each year receive the amazing educational and entertaining experience they expect. Reilly assumed the role of SeaWorld San Diego’s president in November 2010.
Reilly began his career with SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment in 1985 at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, working in the concessions department. He held positions of increasing responsibility in the culinary department at Busch Gardens, rising to director in 1998. Reilly left Busch Gardens in 2001 to assume various company leadership positions in the merchandising and culinary departments at other SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment properties, as well as at the corporate level. Before assuming his role as president of SeaWorld San Diego, Reilly most recently served as park president of Busch Gardens and Water Country USA in Williamsburg, two of 10 parks operated by Orlando-based SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment.
Reilly has a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and history from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va. He currently sits on the board of directors of the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau, the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation and Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute.
