Chairman, TEPPCO PartnersMr. Murray Hutchison retired in 1997 as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the IT Group (International Technology Corporation) after serving in that position for over 27 years. IT, a New York Stock Exchange company, is one of the largest environmental engineering and construction companies in the world with over six thousand employees. He joined a predecessor company in 1964 and was responsible for strategically managing the growth of the company from $330,000 to $1,500,000,000 in annual sales.
In 1999, the Board of Directors of Sunrise Medical, a publicly traded medical equipment manufacturer, asked Hutchison to serve as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. Hutchison reorganized Sunrise and it was sold in late 2000 to a group of private investors at a seventy nine percent premium to its publicly traded price.
Hutchison serves as a Trustee on the Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute board; serves as the Chairman of the Board of Huntington Hotel Corporation and of Research Design, Inc. and serves on the Board of Directors of Cadiz, Inc., Jack in the Box, and The Olson Company. Mr. Hutchison is a member of the Board of Management of the University of California Berkeley Haas Graduate School of Business Administration.
Hutchison is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, earning a BS degree in economics. In addition he received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Foreign Trade from the American Graduate School of International Management, where he was honored as a Distinguished Alumnus.
Hutchison and his wife, Victoria, reside in Rancho Santa Fe and enjoy a family of ten children and eight grandchildren.
