J. DAVID GARDNER
Gardner has more than 30 years construction experience in Southern California. His hands-on involvement in many of San Diego’s landmark projects has given Mr. Gardner unparalleled expertise in identifying and fulfilling client needs. Personal attention to the numerous design details and hard work assure Highland’s clients that their construction capital improvement dollar will stretch the farthest.
Gardner is the immediate past Chairman of the Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute Board of Trustees and currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Nominating Committee. His leadership also includes roles with such organizations as Catholic Charities of the San Diego Catholic Diocese; The Finance Council of the San Diego Catholic Diocese. He also serves as the Chairman of the Board of The Friends of the Chula Vista Nature Center. Highland is an active member of the following industry organizations: Building Industry Association of San Diego, San Diego Land Economics Society, The San Diego Downtown Partnership, and the Urban Land Institute. Gardner has received a number awards and honors from peers in his industry, including Minority Contractors Consultant Group “Executive of the Year” in 2001 and Centre City Development Corporation’s Board of Directors Award for “…striving for parity and equity in the business arena through efforts to assure equal employment opportunities” on the GSA Childcare Project. Gardner and his wife, Carolyn, have three children, three grandchildren, and are building a new home in Santaluz, California.
