David Gardner, Sr., is Chairman and CEO of Highland PM, LLC, a San Diego based general contracting firm, specializing in multifamily neighborhoods and the design and construction of special purpose facilities. Highland is recognized as a regional leader in the design build and design assist processes that allow the shortest timeframes from project design concept to completion for new developments.

Mr. Gardner has more than 40 years construction and development experience in Southern California. His hands-on involvement in many of San Diego’s landmark projects have given him the experience to identify and fulfill client needs. His personal attention to details and Highland’s work ethic help clients understand early the development risk and the ultimate cost prior to design. Stretching the construction capital improvement dollar in balance with excellent design on every project.

Mr. Gardner is the immediate past Chairman of the Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute Board of Trustees and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee. His leadership also has included roles with such organizations as Catholic Charities of the San Diego Catholic Diocese; The Finance Council of the San Diego Catholic Diocese, past Chairman of the Board of The Friends of the Chula Vista Nature Center. Mr. Gardner has received a number awards and honors from peers in his industry, including Minority Contractors Consultant Group “Executive of the Year” in 2001 and Centre City Development Corporation’s Board of Directors Award for striving for parity and equity in the business arena through efforts to assure equal employment opportunities. Mr. Gardner and his wife, Carolyn, have three children and ten grandchildren, and live in Pacific Beach, California.
